Virgin Mary and the Panama’s WYD: protagonists of The Pope Video of JanuaryJanuary 8, 2019
Panama, January 6, 2019. Panamanians already have the official Popemobile that will be used by Pope Francis during the apostolic visit for World Youth Day Panama 2019.
Thanks to the contribution of the company David Distributing, who donated the car, and Tri-Star Central America, who was in charge of the design and construction, the assembly of the Popemobile has been done by Panamanian hands.
This automatic transmission, crew cab Ford Ranger XLT truck has all the specifications requested by the Vatican for the safety and comfort of the Supreme Pontiff.
The Popemobile has an escalator, a 360° swivel chair, red carpet, railings for better support for the Pope while he is standing, and a window in the back of the main cabin so that Francis has better communication with driver.
Ana Victoria Taboada and Edwin Chaverra, who led the team of young people who worked on the design and packaging of this vehicle, stressed that they took references from other Papamobiles built for papal visits, redesigning and improving every detail, and thus met the requirements.
The manufacturing of the Papamobile included designers, mechanical engineers, architects, technicians, welders, among other collaborators. "This experience has been incredible, a great honor. The fact that we are young and doing this for WYD shows that young people are very capable of doing great things," said Ana Victoria.
On his part Jorge Batinovich, president of David Distributing, said that for this 100% Panamanian company and his family, it is a matter of pride and joy to leave this contribution in the history of our country, in which a Popemobile was built by Panamanian professionals fulfilling all the specifications of the Vatican, who followed the process step by step of modifying the vehicle.
