Panamanian artisans will be part of WYD

In the presence of Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa and Eduardo Palacios, the Vice Minister of Interior and Industrial Commerce, more than 440 Panamanian artisans received their credentials and the official notification to participate in the artisans’ path which will be located in Panama city during the days of WYD Panama 2019.
The artisans and their assistants fulfilled a process of convocation, training, and evaluation to be officially accredited and to participate in this great event. Omar Recreational Park, Francisco Arias Paredes Park, and the Porras Plaza are the sites selected for the artisans to present their work to both pilgrims and the general public. Some examples of these works are rosaries, decades, scapulars, as well as jewelry, key chains, handbags, dividers, fans, headbands, vests and household items, all associated with WYD Panama 2019.
Archbishop José Domingo Ulloa expressed his satisfaction and highlighted the importance of the accreditations which has been prepared to expose the richness of Panamanian craftsmanship. For the church, craftsmanship is our own identity since, with the ingenuity of each craftsman, pilgrims from more than 150 countries will be witnesses of the art which demonstrates the great country we are.
On his part, Deputy Minister Palacios explained that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MICI) will provide the craftsmen with the infrastructure (tents, tables, chairs, signs) and that these accreditations are on a national level as they will even be participating artisans during the week of the pre-WYD (January 17 to 20) in the dioceses of Chitré, Santiago, Colón-Kuna Yala, and David.
