Young indigenous people sharing their challenges and hopes from the faith

With the motto: "We assume the memory of our past to build hope with courage", from January 17 to 21, in Soloy, Ngäbe-Bugle Comarca , Panama, the World Indigenous Youth Gathering is being held which gathers about 400 young people from countries such as Panama, Guatemala, Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, and Honduras.
The video message which Pope Francis addressed to the young indigenous people in which he encouraged them to joyfully celebrate their faith in Jesus Christ was a great surprise for them:
The first day of the meeting focuses on the living memory of our peoples, while the second on the struggle to maintain harmony with Mother Earth, from the richness of our cultures in the light of Laudato Si, and the last day on the importance of the active participation of the indigenous youth in the construction of a better world.
Each day begins with a moment of joy through liveliness, singing, music and dances, prayers showing their own cultural identity, then a festival with ancestral games, pilgrimages, ecological activities, and concludes with cultural events prepared by local groups.
This Sunday, in the afternoon, the closing Mass will be held and presided by Cardinal José Luis Lacunza.
